As promised, we're bringing you a sneak peek grand reveal of one of our most recent finished projects - the #worldtraveler project. This family of four won a charity auction for a one hour consultation with Laura that they intended to use as a starting point to revamp their nine year old daughter's bedroom as she entered her tween years.
This one room project morphed into a four room makeover that also included the living room, family room, and daughter's study. What started as a one hour consultation became a long relationship with this fabulous family of travelers.

We'll start this project at the end with the last space that the family added on to the scope of their project, the family room. This space was serving as a makeshift office plus game room and was a random assortment of furniture that couple had collected over the years mixed with an explosion of toys and games.
Doing puzzles and playing board games together was one of their favorite family activities and they wanted this space to provide a comfortable hangout space for them to do that while also providing a small but functional desk space for those times that the parents needed to work from home.
Laura selected an upbeat navy and kelly green palette for this space and balanced it out with warm wood tones and a comfy, beige custom sofa with navy trim. The addition of the gorgeous, Moroccan-inspired, hand-crafted hutch really created a statement in the space while providing storage for their games and puzzles and also giving a nod to the family's extensive international travels.

The inspiration for extending the navy color palette into the family room came from the striking oriental rug that provided the basis of the design in the living room. This room also had an assortment of furniture pieces that had been collected throughout the years without a true cohesive design.
There were two large pieces in the rug and the reclaimed wood cocktail table that they had acquired over the course of their travels which the family was very fond of and wanted to use as the inspiration for the space. Laura took those pieces and built the rest of the design by pulling in elements and colors that complemented them and added to the international aesthetic of the space.
Custom crimson and navy ikat print throw pillows extended the well-traveled vibe to the beige custom sofa while a navy sisal wallpaper in the rear of the existing built-ins provided the perfect backdrop to display the collection of artifacts they had acquired over the course of their travels.

For our final space we're going to where it all started - a remarkable nine year-old girls' bedroom. You will likely recognize this space from one of the very first Fox Tales when we featured it in our discussion about Pantone's 2018 Color of the Year, Ultra Violet. Here we're giving you a little glimpse of the finished product with a reminder of the incredible rendering by Jane Gianarelli that helped our young client to visualize what her new room would look like.
As you may remember, this bright and curious young lady was very inspired by outer space and pastels and wanted a room that reflected those two concepts. Laura incorporated the love of outer space with a huge, custom mural of galaxies that incorporated all of the splendid blues and purples that the client was looking for.
The amazing Stacy Zarin Goldberg took plenty more stunning photos of this home and we look forward to revealing the remainder of those in due course. Keep checking in to see when they make their appearance!
To celebrate the sneak peek reveal of the #worldtraveler project we're giving away two of these super fun color-blocked throw pillows!
Laura fell in love with these pillows while designing for this project and came close to incorporating them into the family room before deciding the space called for more of a kelly green than an olive. But the pillows stuck with her so we're giving you the chance to snag some for yourself.
