6 TIPS FOR BRINGING THE OUTDOORS IN (Part 1)

Summer is officially in full swing and at Team LFID we just want to be outside soaking up rays and drinking in that fresh summer air. Unfortunately, we don't have that luxury all the time so we have started thinking of ways to bring a touch of the outdoors in. Keep reading for the first half of our six tips on making your home feel like an open air oasis!

1. Beautiful Botanicals

Laura went all in on the outside inside concept when designing for the Macon Bistro restaurant in Chevy Chase through the use of a vibrant botanical wallpaper. Incorporating leaves and flowers into your home design through the use of wall coverings, textiles, and artwork can work wonders. It is an often very simple way to create a small sense of being outdoors even when you're inside.

2. Embrace Natural Elements

Another simple way get the feeling of lounging on the porch on a warm summer's day without leaving your sofa is through the addition of natural design elements. Live edge wood is hugely popular at the moment partially because it gives a space that warm, nostalgic feeling of sitting by a campfire with your feet propped on a stump, swapping stories with friends. It also looks really cool!

3. Frame the Scene

What better way to bring the outdoors in than by making use of the outdoor space that you already have? Strategic selection and design of your window treatments can work to draw attention out of the windows and make the landscape the focal point of the room creating a natural framed art piece. That way, even when you're sitting in your living room, you still feel like you're in the middle of a meadow!
